LAKE JACKSON, Texas, August 17, 2026 — The Brazosport Water Authority (BWA) has received the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Annual Innovative or Proactive Water System Award for the sixth time. The statewide honor recognizes BWA’s forward-thinking use of technology to strengthen maintenance, improve operational efficiency and support reliable water service for the communities and industries it serves.
BWA earned the award for its implementation of LSPS Solutions’ digital water-utility asset-management services, including electronic operations and maintenance manuals, advanced mapping and GIS tools, aerial surveying, high-resolution photography and an AI Bot that captures real-time and historical maintenance data. Together, these tools replaced time-consuming manual processes with a centralized, user-friendly system that gives employees immediate access to equipment history, maintenance instructions and current operational information.
“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our employees and their commitment to keeping reliability, safety and innovation at the center of everything we do,” said BWA General Manager Ronnie Woodruff. “By giving our team better information and better tools, we can work more efficiently, reduce downtime and continue providing dependable, cost-effective water service to our member cities and customers.”
The new system assigns preventive-maintenance tasks to technicians, helps employees organize schedules and priorities, and provides the information needed to evaluate repair-versus-replacement decisions and maintain spare-parts inventories. Since implementation, BWA has already experienced faster maintenance response and task-completion times, less equipment downtime, improved planning and more accurate budget forecasting.
BWA selected LSPS Solutions after evaluating multiple systems and identifying its platform as the most comprehensive and user-friendly option for the Authority’s current needs and long-term goals. LSPS supported implementation, employee training and the transition to the new system and continues to provide ongoing technical support.
The award marks the sixth time TCEQ has recognized BWA as an Innovative or Proactive Water System. The Authority previously received the honor in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2025.
