BWA's Timeline

Our Story of Growth

1985

BWA created by HB650 as a political subdivision of the State of Texas.

1989

BWA produces its first potable water.

1992

The Clemens Prison Unit becomes a customer.

1 million-gallon clear water tank Installed.

1995

The Retrieve/Wayne Scott Prison Unit (now Clemens II) becomes a customer.

2004

Dow Chemical becomes a customer.

2016

The City of Rosenberg becomes a customer.

2018

33-mile pipeline to provide water to the City of Rosenberg is completed.

2019

BWA’s 10-million gallon clear water storage tank is constructed as part of its desalination plant project.

2020

New high service pump station installed.

2024

The Brazosport Water Supply Corporation is formed to develop a new 51,000 acre-foot reservoir to enhance regional water storage capacity.

Installation of Desalination Pilot Plant, three wells and piping in preparation to construct a full-scale desalination facility that will produce 12 million gallons of desalinated water per day.

2024 Q3

BWA water treatment plant was renamed in honor of long-time board member, Juan Longoria, who served 30 years on the board of directors, 27 of those as Board President.

2025

Groundbreaking Ceremony held for BWSC Reservoir construction project.

Beginning Tuesday, December 9th through December 30th , BWA will be conducting a TCEQ approved free chlorine conversion. During this time, you may notice a change in taste and odor. Rest assured that the water is safe for use and consumption.
